I’m Jess, and I like words.

I'm an Atlanta-based content strategist and writer. I currently lead organic growth and content at a fintech company building all-in-one banking, bookkeeping, and tax tools for the self-employed.

Before that, I spent time in real estate tech, helping a startup working to expand access to affordable housing find its voice. And before that, I ran social media for a pediatric healthcare system — including in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic — and led content and copywriting for an online retailer built around helping women live more fulfilling lives.

My real passion for marketing didn’t come from a marketing book or college course, though. It came from fielding customer service emails in the online retail space. On the frontlines of every complaint, question, or social media comment, I had a light bulb moment: I had a front-row seat to hearing exactly what our customers needed in their voice instead of my own.

That stint in customer service became the bedrock of how I approach what I do each day. Marketing is only effective when you take the time to get to know what your audience actually needs, then build and execute a plan based on that knowledge.

For the past decade, I’ve watched the power of words play out in a professional setting, helping companies bridge the gap between what they want to say and what they’re actually saying.

When I’m not working, you can find me trying to keep up with my library queue, browsing local Atlanta thrift stores, and window house-shopping on Zillow.

What I Do*

*Are you interested in working together, but don’t see what you need? Or maybe you don’t know what you need? That’s okay! I love the high-level strategizing just as much as the in-the-weeds execution. Send me a note, and we can talk more.

Let’s be friends.

Whether you want to send me your book recommendations, tell me the best thrift stores in the Atlanta metro area, or work together on your content needs, I’m all ears.
